As you walk into pint shop you are immediately greeted by a massive chalk board with a huge list of beers. Massive tick for the lads! Fortunately, we knock about with a bunch of ladettes. Another big tick. Prices are pretty steep, hipster prices, and you are talking about £6 for a pint. And about £5 for a 2/3 pint. We are seated upstairs, away from the busy bar, in a much quieter room.
…But we could probably do with a little of that downstairs atmosphere.
There is a Sunday set menu to choose from. A choice of three roast dinners and any starter or pudding off the main menu. 1 course is £14, 2 courses £18 and 3 courses £22. We don’t wanna be cheapskates but we ay spending a fortune, so we opt for two courses. The majority have an onion bhaji scotch egg served with a coriander relish. British/Indian fusion done very well.
The beef roast is another favourite amongst our group, and comes with a huge Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables and horseradish crème fraîche. The only downside being the ‘splash’ of gravy.
We want more!!
The token vegetarian has a token nut roast, and is indifferent. Can’t take them anywhere.
Another classic Sunday roast in Britain’s second city
